Convoys

Southbound passage: The ships arriving Port Said anchorage and monitored by the SCA local radar station, having passed South of lat. 31 28,7N until 1900hrs, will join the 1st convoy. Canal entrance time is next day 0000-0500hrs. The arrival limit can be extended as follows:
3% surcharge from 1900hrs to 2100hrs with max charge SDR 7.000
5% surcharge from 2100hrs to 2200hrs with max charge SDR 10.500
10% surcharge for arrival after 2200hrs with max charge SDR 20.000 and if traffic conditions permit

Cement carrying vessels must arrive well before sunset, to allow adequate time for the security inspection team to carry out bottom inspection of the vessel prior the entry in the Canal.
0300hrs is the arrival limit for ships permitted to join the 2nd convoy. Canal entrance time is same day between 0630-0900hrs. The arrival limit can be extended as follows:

(a) arrival limit 0300hrs lt for vessels with arrival draft up to 42 feet or SGRT up to 90.000:
3% surcharge from 0300hrs to 0400hrs with max charge SDR 7.000
5% surcharge from 0400hrs to 0500hrs with max charge SDR 10.500
10% surcharge for arrival after 0500hrs with max charge SDR 20.000 and if traffic conditions permit

(b) for modern container vessels over 90.000 SGRT and up to 95.000 SGRT or for vessels with arrival draft exceeding 42 feet and up to 45 feet and max beam not exceeding 164 feet:
5% surcharge for arrival up to 0300hrs with max charge SDR 10.500
8% surcharge from 0300hrs to 0400hrs with max charge SDR 17.000
10% surcharge from 0400hrs to 0500hrs with max charge SDR 20.000
10% surcharge for arrival after 0500hrs with max charge SDR 20.000 and if traffic conditions permit

The second convoy excludes the following ships:

a). Loaded tankers or bulk carriers carrying petroleum grade A or similar substances (flash point below 23C/73F, ascertained by an open test, or other test with an equal degree of accuracy).
b). Liquefied inflammable gas vessels (LPG, LNG or similar, loaded or ballast non gas free)
c).Vessels not fitted with double bottom and carrying chemicals in bulk.
d).Vessels carrying radioactive substances Group 1.
e).Vessels carrying dangerous wastes.
f). Semi-submersible heavy lift vessels carrying heavy lift units with tonnage exceeding the lifting capacity of their individual cranes.
g). Vessels carrying deck cargo protruding in such a way as not to provide clear view from the bridge, or affecting vessel's stability, or protruding more than the half of the vessel's breadth on any side.
h). Vessels over 90.000 tons Suez Canal Gross Tonnage (see also above what applies for modern Container vessels).
i). Navy ships
j). Cement carrying ships.
k). Any vessel whose transit draft exceeds 45feet (see also above)

 

Northbound passage: The ships arriving to the Suez anchorage and monitored by the SCA local radar station will join the sole northbound convoy. Entrance time: 0600 - 1000hrs.

The first group ships (Tanker Group - Group A ) have arrival limit 0100hrs on the basis of passing North of lat. 29 42,8N.

This arrival limit can be extended as follows:
3% surcharge from 0100hrs to 0300hrs with max charge SDR 7.000
5% surcharge from 0300hrs to 0400hrs with max charge SDR 10.500
10% surcharge for arrival after 0400hrs with max charge SDR 20.000 and if traffic conditions permit

The second group (Ordinary Group - Group B) ships have arrival limit 0300hrs on the basis of passing North of lat. 29 48,33N.
This arrival limit can be extended as follows:
3% surcharge from 0300hrs to 0400hrs with max charge SDR 7.000
5% surcharge from 0400hrs to 0500hrs with max charge SDR 10.500
10% surcharge for arrival after 0500hrs with max charge SDR 20.000 and if traffic conditions permit


GROUP A:
Navy ships, 4th Generation Container ships, 3rd Generation Container ships over 40.000 SGRT & similar, LASH over 35.000 SGRT, LPG & LNG (loaded or non gas free), loaded Chemicals carriers, loaded VLCC's, conventional loaded Tankers and heavy Bulk Carriers (draught over 38 feet or length over 950 feet b.p.).
GROUP B:
Cargo and other vessels anchored in Suez waiting area.
